These baskets are crafted by the Fuente de Pinos, a women’s artisan cooperative in the small mountain village of Ocotal, El Sauce, Nicaragua. Using pine needles gathered from the forest floor, each piece is meticulously sewn by hand - celebrating the strength, creativity, and resourcefulness of its makers.
These baskets were purchased directly from the cooperative and carried back in checked luggage -not mass-produced, not imported in bulk. Your purchase provides meaningful, sustainable income for women who otherwise have few opportunities outside of caring for their homes and children.
All proceeds go directly back to the cooperative, helping expand their reach far beyond the few tourist groups that visit each year.
